MIFA Victory Theatre presents El Puerto Rico, The Rich Port a concert of contemporary classical music featuring Caprichos by renowned Puerto Rican composer Roberto Sierra, a new piece by Puerto Rican composer Omar Surillo, and a sneak peek of MIFA-commissioned compositions by Surillo, Tony Solitro, and Christian A. Quiñones inspired by the rich classical and popular music of the island. The public concert is the culminating event of a two-week residency by the Victory Players, the first project of the MIFA Victory Theatre International Arts Academy.
Under the musical direction of Ng Tian Hui, the MIFA Victory Theatre International Arts Academy debut concert will introduce the new six–member musical ensemble The Victory Players, chosen from around the world to be in residency here in Holyoke. In addition to the ensemble, chosen composers will also be in residence to work with the Victory Players and creating MIFA-commissioned music, which the audience will get a sneak peek of at the public performance.
Meet the Ensemble
In addition to the Residency and Public Performance, the ensemble will conduct music workshops at Holyoke High School, Chicopee Comprehensive High School, South Hadley Plains Elementary School, and an afternoon concert for area youth.
