MIFA brought the idea for Holyoke Stars to PorterHouse Media as part of MIFA’s ongoing research into Holyoke artists and celebrities. PorterHouse Media: www.porterhousemedia.com and Zach MacDonald of Milltown Productions: milltownproductions.com, have collaborated to create an audio/visual composition highlighting three famous stage and silent film actresses: Eva Tanguay, Ormi Hawley, and Pauline Curley. The video is a mix of original sounds and images from rare footage and recordings blended artistically with a modern approach. The video short will be followed by either the full-length silent film Where The North Holds Sway (1927), staring Pauline Curley or Where the North Begins (1923), staring Rin Tin Tin.

Holyoke Then and Now, a photography exhibit, accompanies the viewing.

www.holyokepov.org, is a series of art and cultural events which will take place during April 2013 in venues throughout Holyoke’s Arts & Innovation District. All programs are free and open to the public.
