Justin Ouellet, Violin


Justin Ouellet is an award-winning performer and educator who has garnered a reputation as a fearless artist as well as a dedicated pedagogue. In addition to cultivating an accomplished career as a classical musician on both violin and viola, Ouellet moves effortlessly between a multitude of genres as a composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist performer. Ouellet has collaborated with an array of artists and ensembles, including the Alexander String Quartet, Kev Choice, Dame Drummer, Dave Ellis, Aaron Germain, Emil Miland, Erik Jakebson, Hausmann Quartet, Jennifer Johns, Josh Jones, Julian Loida, Cava Menzies, Rob Reich, and has appeared with notable artists such as Air Traffic Controller, Andrea Bocelli, Celtic Woman, Mani Draper, Mark Erelli, Dave Godowsky, Martin Luther McCoy, Meernaa, Jonsi and Alex Somers (Sigur Ros), Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and The Trans Siberian Orchestra. In 2019, Justin was featured by the San Francisco Symphony during their non-classical series at Davies Symphony Hall with his trio d'PaJo. As an orchestral and chamber musician, Ouellet has performed with the Atlantic Music Festival, Boston Festival Orchestra, Boston Opera Collaborative, Cape Symphony, Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, Eastern Music Festival, Greenville Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Juventas New Music Ensemble, New Bedford Symphony, Ocala Symphony, One Found Sound, Orchestra on the Hill, Orlando Phil, PARMA, PIMF, Trinity Rep Theatre & Savage Jazz Dance Company. He is a recipient of the 2019 Academy of Gospel Music Award for his achievement in arts education as Co-Director of Orchestral & Chamber Music Studies at Oakland School for the Arts and voted best Jazz Instrumentalist by SF Classical voice (Best of the Bay). During the pandemic, he was selected by San Jose Jazz for the Jazz Aid Fund to compose a piece ('Fervent Pulse') and to be a featured artist at the 2021 New Works Festival. As a recording artist, engineer, and producer, Justin has been involved in dozens of projects ranging from at-home to big-budget recordings at Skywalker Sound. Most recent recordings include Ann Moss Lifeline and Justin Ouellet: The Covid Sessions, both released in the fall of 2022.
