Direct from PARIS … An Exclusive Theater Event!
A powerful and simply staged theater event performed by five dynamic young French actors, two of whom are stars of the Comédie-Française. The play is presented as a “rehearsal in progress” overseen by an actor playing Louis Jouvet, the legendary French acting teacher, director, and theater thinker. Jouvet (1887-1951) was the French equivalent of Stanislavsky, Stella Adler, and Lee Strasburg. He is renowned for his wisdom about acting and his impact on contemporary actors and theater. Jouvet’s real-life advice to actors guides the rehearsal and performance of scenes taken from the greatest examples of the classical French dramatic repertory. There will be supertitles in English.
This appearance of Répertoires and Compagnie des Petits-Champs made possible by MIFA through the Theodore Feder Family Fund for French Culture, Michele and Donald D’Amour, the George and Irene Davis Foundation, and the Mount Holyoke College Departments of French and Theatre Arts.
