An emerging artist in contemporary music, percussionist Robert Rocheteau is known for engaging and diverse performances including shows with internationally acclaimed Sō Percussion, to a live-radio broadcast with Classical Revolution Baltimore. Robert’s repertoire ranges from classics of the 20th century by Iannis Xenakis and Steve Reich, to new works of contemporary composers.
Passionate about promoting new music, Robert gave the New England premiere of Alejandro Viñao’s new percussion trio Relative Riffs. He recently performed and recorded Baltimore composer Steven Crino’s new piece Alchemist in the City for mixed octet, including marimba and percussion. Additionally, Robert is excitedly working with a consortium to premiere a new solo marimba piece by composer Robert Honstein at the end of this year.
Robert is excited to return to Western Massachusetts to perform as a member of the Victory Players. He previously lived in Amherst for 5 years freelancing and teaching music in the South Hampshire Public School District.
Robert is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree at the Peabody Conservatory of Music studying with marimba virtuoso and esteemed educator, Robert van Sice. He completed his undergraduate studies with Ayano Kataoka and Thomas Hannum at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
